Are you part of a band travelling on a tour bus round Europe? Well, we’re about to tell you the top venues to visit on tour! We already went through 10 smaller venues in the UK, which you can read by clicking here. Now, let’s go through some of the bigger venues that are dispersed all round Europe.
1. Paradiso, Amsterdam
Paradiso is a former church, close to Leidseplein. Now, it’s a live music venue and nightclub – with a 1500 capacity limit in the main hall and 250 in the small hall. Think about the acoustics in a church! It’s by far the best place to experience live music in the romantic city that is Amsterdam. It’s also the most well-known and has hosted the likes of David Bowie, Nirvana, Prince and The Rolling Stones. Amsterdam is such a beautiful city too, perfect for a scenic drive on your tour bus.
2. Arena di Verona, Italy
Translated; The Verona Arena. It is a Roman amphitheatre in Italy, most commonly used for Opera performances. However, several artists have played here – the likes of Pink Floyd, Alicia Keys, One Direction and Whitney Houston. When it was first built in 30AD the venue could hold as many as 30,000 people – but due to inputting stages for performances it now holds around 22,000 people. Still, one of the best preserved ancient structures of its time – definitely worth checking out!
3. Zénith Paris, France
Zénith Paris is one of the biggest concert halls in Paris, with a capacity of close to 6300. Originally, the venue was only supposed to be temporary and to be taken down after 3 years. Well, it’s been a lot longer than 3 years and this busy venue is still going strong! Many famous artists have played here such as The Who, Neil Diamond and Robbie Williams.
4. Wild at Heart, Germany
Another great live music venue to visit for any band travelling via sleeper bus is Wild At Heart in Berlin, Germany. It is both a concert and music club and attracts punk rock n rollers, even being described as the most iconic rock bar in Europe! For sure worth a visit. One fan event went as far as to say that ‘Wild at Heart is one of the best rock bars in the world!’
5. Croke Park, Ireland
Croke Park is a football stadium based in Dublin that hosts live music concerts. Guess how many people this venue holds? A whopping 82,000+ people. That’s insane! The likes of Elton John, Bon Jovi, One Direction and Celine Dion have performed here. 6. Tempordrom, Berlin
Tempodrom is a concert hall that’s roof is shaped a bit like a tent, so don’t be worried about driving straight past it because it’s easy to spot! This venue is also an amphitheatre but more modern-day, meaning the acoustics are amazing. A variety of artists play here, from rock bands to classical music – so it doesn’t matter what genre of music your band play. They have a hall of fame section on their website so you can see who has played here, but just a few include Liam Gallagher, Phoebe Bridgers, Cigarettes after sex and Take that. As you can see, a variety of genres.
7. Dalhalla, Sweden
This venue is the icing on the cake, not just an ordinary concert hall but also one of only three places in the entire world that you can see the results of a meteorite impact. It’s outside, in an abandoned quarry but has been transformed into one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world. It hosts concerts from June to September and it would definitely be an honour to play here! A very unique spot, worth the ___ hour drive on sleeper coach.
8. Slane Castle, Ireland
Not only is it a castle, but also a historical part of rock n’ roll history. U2 actually took up residence here to write their fourth album, they’ve played 3 times as well as Bob Dylan, Queen, The Rolling Stones and Oasis. It’s unlike any other venue and definitely deserves to be on our list.
9. Razzmatazz, Spain
Based in Barcelona, this nightclub transforms into a concert venue for lots of different genres of music. The main hall can hold up to 20000 people. Whilst built in 1986 it didn’t actually open till 2000, but it quickly became popular with the locals. The likes of Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Oasis and Radiohead have played here.
10. Friends Arena, Sweden
Based in Stockholm, this arena is currently known as Friends Arena for sponsor reasons, but originally is named Nationalarenan. It has a retractable roof and can fit approximately 65,000 people. The likes of Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, David Guetta and Rita Ora have performed here. It is also used for football matches when not being a massive concert space.
